i140 approved with Consular processing - Can H1B be extended post 6 years ?

I request you to kindly review the case & respond.

Say - someone's i140 was applied from India <<At that time - Person was having H1B visa as well with 1.5 years of validity. It's just that @ the time of filing i140 - he was in India>>. If he now travels to the USA - will he be able to get the H1B extended after 6 years using approved I140. I am asking this because the i140 was filed from India (hence - it was tagged with consular processing, not I485). Is there a path ?
