Passport renewal while extension is in progress

My H1B extension was filed on July27'2020 along with my dependents and i have received the receipt number. My kid passport is valid till Jan 2021, by reading various posts available in the internet on H4 extension queries it is said that even if my extension gets approved till 2022 , my kid I94 might be given only till Jan 2020 i.e passport expiry date .

 

Looking at current situation , lets say if i get extension result for my dependent as approved in Dec 2020, is it advisable to wait till Dec 2020 before I apply for new passport for my kid and then take necessary steps to extend my kids I94 or I can apply for my kid passport renewal even now.

 

1.)If I apply for passport renewal for my kid , do i need to inform USCIS now ?

2.)Also , lets say if my I94 is given till 2022, my kid I94 is granted till Jan 2021 ( going by current passport expiry date)  and if I get  extension result on Dec 30'2021 (few days  before  my kids I94 expiry date ) then what is the procedure to extend my kid I94 valid date as per new passport expiry date considering that I would be having only 30 days to renew the I94 expiry date for my kid H4.
