shezan Posted July 28, 2020 Report Posted July 28, 2020 Hello, I am a F1 graduate student, and I am currently on Full-Time CPT for 40 hours with my employer. I have options of graduating either next December or extend it to next May. I plan to take a part-time CPT with the same employer next semester(Fall 2020) and get university credits for same. I follow this forum closely and have heard USCIS frowns using continuous CPT till end of studies and can lead to RFEs or denial to my OPT application. Can you say which option is better? 1). NO PROBLEM : Take part time CPT next semester and graduate in the same semester. Their is no harm as no rules directly imply that part-time CPT kills OPT. 2).CAUTIOUS:Take part time CPT next semester(Fall 2020) and graduate in spring 2021(with last semester being reduced course load), this would show that their is a gap between CPT end and OPT begin? 3). ALERT : Both 1 & 2 are risky. Hence, drop the part time CPT next semester all together? Please help with your comments. Quote
