PriyankaKa Posted June 23, 2020 Report Posted June 23, 2020 Hi, I am from India and I currently am on an F2 visa and staying in the US. I wish to start in a Masters program in the fall 2020 quarter and a good school has given me admission as well. What is the fastest way for me to switch to F1 status, so that I can start in-person studies in the fall quarter? USCIS website quotes 5-7 months time for change of status to F1? Is that right? If I apply in June, can I start studies (remotely in the US or in-person) before I get the approval? Do you expect consulate in India to start issuing F1 visas before mid September so that I can travel and get a visa? Please advise on any other options as well. Thank you. Quote
