Rohen
I am planning to accept offer for full time employment. Due to high relocation cost, my recruiter has offered me some payment through 1099 for relocation expenses. I am on h1b visa currently. Can i accept such payment? My employer and recruiter are 2 different company. To pay relocation expenses, recruiter wants me to file w9 and he will provide me 1099-MISC at year end. Thanks Rohen Edited June 14, 2020 by Rohen Quote Link to comment

User099
I think your recruiter can't pay your directly, the payment has to come from your Employer. Check with a CPA. Quote Link to comment
JoeF
You can't get paid from the recruiter. That would be active income, and you don't have work authorization for that. The employer can of course provide relocation expenses, and good employers will do that if they really want you. Quote Link to comment
