Sai_US
Hi My H1 petition has been applied by my employer as consular notify (option a checked under requested action in i129) as I had plans to travel to my home country during my application processing time. However, because of covid and current situations, I haven't traveled out of US. my question now is on approval, does USCIS give direct approval (COS) [I have been in US, haven't traveled out since the application is launched] or approve it as consular processing. please note my current status is not H1, I am currently on a dependent visa. User099
If you have not asked for COS and applied as Consular processing then it will be approved in Consular processing. Quote Link to comment
Sai_US
But I have heard from a few people where they applied for consular processing but got change of status approved, what could be the reason. Quote Link to comment

I have not heard of such cases. But I have heard the opposite when there is some issue with the petitioners status then they approve it in CP and deny the COS. Quote Link to comment
