Proposal to eliminate F1 Duration of Status (D/S)

Since this has already moved to the proposal stage now, will this become a law in the next couple of months? Also, will this also affect F1 students in the US who already have a D/S notation on their visa?

I'm currently on a F1 visa and I would be grateful if anyone has more information on this issue so I can carefully plan my remaining time in the US.

It doesn't mean anything; they can review it for years and not publish a proposed rule. Until they publish a proposed rule, nobody knows what it might say. It should not affect the duration of any previous admissions.
