H1-B renewal with new registration process

Hi,

My current H1-B is expiring in Sept 2020. I am aware of the new H1-B rule where we have to register online on USCIS.

Am I supposed to register even if it is a renewal? This is going to be my first renewal. I got my first H1-B in Oct 2017.

This registration stuff is for new H1s in the quota.

Not for renewal or transfers. It's just for new cap subject cases.

Your employer must take care of it not you. You must stay away h1B renewal...

I think you meant your H1-B extension.

The new registration process is only for people who apply for H1-B which is subject to the yearly cap. This mostly likely will go through the lottery process.

In your case, since you are extending your visa, this process is not applicable for you. You are eligible for extension 6 months before expiry.
