curious17
I wanted to know if under any/what aspects could a person be able to maintain Indian salary while on H4 and living in the US? Could he/she continue some remote work and get paid for the same? How does it affect the corresponding H1B visa holder? Quote Link to comment
User099
A person can work only if he/she has valid work authorization in US, even if the job is basically in India and getting paid in India. It will not directly impact your immigration status, but he/she will be in considered working illegally if they do it without Work permit. Quote Link to comment

Working illegally means the person is illegal, out of status, so it of course impacts the immigration status of the person working. It is not allowed to work while in the US if the person does not have work authorization. Where the company is located is irrelevant. It matters where the person is located. If you read the OP's question and my answer you would understand the reply. Person on H4 will be treated illegal for working without a work permit and not the spouse who is on H1.
