Mumbai Consulate— Admin Processing

11 th year H1 B stamping, never had any prior stamping issues. 
Interview was on Dec 11. The VO didnt specifically say “the visa is approved” but said something to the effect “ give us a week” and kept the passport. No 221g form given or anything, just the standard small white slip with the generic thank you for applying language, and the standard H1b rights booklet.

The status on the ceac website has the admin processing status since Dec 11. The case was updated Dec 19 but still says admin processing. Not experienced this before ( always had the stamped passport back in 1-2 days after the interview in the past) and don’t know what to expect. My return flight is Jan 1 and looks like I’ll have to cancel.

Anyone else in the same boat or experienced the delay?

Guess there wasn’t anyone that was in the admin processing limbo, or at-least nobody that wanted to share.

But to close the loop and provide a timeline:

Dec 11: visa interview ( visa approved no 221g issued)

Dec 11: ceac update: Admin Processing 

Dec 19: ceac case date updated, still admin processing 

Dec 30: ceac update: Visa issued

Dec 31: Passport received

12 working days for visa issue. Passport received just in time to make tomorrow’s  return flight.
