Appy123 Posted August 2, 2019 Report Posted August 2, 2019 Hi, My employer applied H1b visa for me this year. It's a COS H4 to H1b and it was approved. Can I go to Mexico for first time H1B visa stamp? I have an expired H4 visa stamp on my passport. Thanks, Aparna
gopalakrishnach Posted August 5, 2019 Report Posted August 5, 2019 H4 to H1B you can go to Mexico since you already had H4 visa stamped in your passport. H4 and H1B are considered same category.
mavrikicecool Posted August 12, 2019 Report Posted August 12, 2019 better consult a laywer, as canada is only the country which allows for first h1b, rest are only for renewals, as your case is different ask a known lawyer.

Above answers by others are true. Canada allows F1 to H1B (1st time stamping) or renewals. Mexico allows same visa category renewals. (H4 to 1st time H1B stamping is allowed in Mexico) - provided candidate already got H4 stamping in passport (expired is fine too). Both H1B & H4 comes under same H Visa Category. This is verified information from US consulate.
