Travel outside US after H1b approval before start date

I am currently on  L2 visa (spouse on L1)  and my H1 petition under COS was selected in this year's lottery and an email confirmation of the final approval has been received (waiting for physical approval notice). 

I will be travelling to India this month and my spouse plans to get his H1 stamped this year and I will have H4 stamped.

Will my H1b COS be abandoned if I travel now after my H1b approval ?  Can I re-enter US on H4 in a few weeks ? What do I need to do to have my H1 activated on Oct 1st ? Is there any additional process involved to make sure the COS happens since I have travelled outside US on L2 and reentered on H4  ?

I have only come across Q&A on travelling while petition is pending and none about travelling after receiving approval. Please advise.

If your spouse is on L1 you can not enter on an H4, you can only enter on an L2.

To have the H1 active on Oct. 1 you would need to travel abroad and enter with an H1 visa no sooner than 10 days before Oct. 1.
