Can i travel ouside the country when i applied for h1b to h4

Hi, 

I am going to convert h1 to h4  visa but i am also having plan to go India for family function. Is it possible if i apply for change of status (H1to H4). Can i travel outside country before i receive my h4 approval?

Can i apply for h4EAD and travel to India.

What would be the processing time if we do it from here or from India.

Please share your thoughts.

Hi, If you have plan to go India then you can obtain H4 visa through VISA stamping. It will be less time consuming than applying COS here. Once you return then you may apply H4EAD.

Note: Please note that this is not a legal advise but just my opinion.

Yes you can travel and come back with a H-4 visa stamp. Better to apply for EAD after you come back to avoid confusion.
