Hi All,

My mother-in-law and father-in-law are French citizen and they are currently living in India. They got French citizenship few years ago and gave back Indian citizenship.  They never visited France till now.

They want to visit US for few months, I know they can use Visa-Waiver program (No need of visa for 90 days) which is for 3 months. I would like to apply for B2 visa so that they can spend more days (5 to 6 months) with us.

Questions:

1. Can they apply for B2 visa in India – Chennai consulate or do they need to appear in France - Paris?

Thanks in advance!

People who qualify for the visa waiver pretty much never can get a B2 visa. They would have to explain why they need to visit for more than 3 months.

Pretty much the only time an application for a visitor visa would even be considered if the person doesn't qualify for a visa waiver, which implies the person overstayed a previous visa waiver visit (which in turn makes it rather unlikely that a visa would be approved.)

In short, forget about it. They can only stay for 3 months.
