Travelling to India while my H1B application is still in process

My H1B application from 2017 is still in pending state with current status 'Response To USCIS' Request For Evidence Was Received'.

Is it okay to travel to india?( also my most recent i20 on 2nd page mentions that I have a H1B in process with receipt no..dont know if that matters.)

As a general sense, travel is not advisable between change of statuses.

Given that yours is in RFE makes it strongly advisable to not travel unless you have an emergency.

There is no legal dotted line that says do not travel but these are advisable assumptions commonly practiced when your status is in limbo.
