Travel towards the end of OPT/F1 Visa

Hi,

I'm currently on my STEM OPT which is expiring in mid-September, 2018 and my F1 visa is expiring in December 2018. I'm employed and my employer is filing for my H1b visa this year.

My question is - how risky is to travel during June/July timeframe if my visa isn't picked up? I'll have 2 months of OPT left at that time and around 5-6 months of F1 visa. 

I would appreciate if someone could share any details or personal experiences similar to my case. Thanks in advance!
