RPP123
I was traveling for business from US to Italy and applied for H1B stamping at the US consulate in Italy with an approved I-797. 3rd time H1B renewal, working with the same company, same job, not in IT. Got 221g at the interview asking for 2 sets of documents. Submitted all requested documents and its been more than 2 weeks (more than 3 weeks since the day of interview) but still waiting on AP, no change in status. Is it okay to travel to home country, India, while AP is still in process, and come back to the consulate in Italy when they approve? I have valid Indian passport plus valid Schengen visa till September next year. Thanks Link to comment
kris8989
yes, you can. you can ask for your passport. they will give it back to you. once approved you will be required to drop off your passport at the consulate location. they will then print the visa page and give it back to you. RPP123
Thanks. I have my passport with me, I asked it back at the time of interview because I had to travel to another country in Europe for work. Link to comment
RPP123
Update on my case - received email that admin processing is complete and you may bring your passport to get visa printed - 40 days from the date of interview. Took my passport to the consulate and got the visa printed the next day. Link to comment
