Advicereq123
Hi, Would anyone be able to give thoughts on the following questions: Spouse will not be able to attend biometric appt. We could re-schedule but would the re-scheduling delay only the spouse's (dependent) application or delay both primary and dependent application? Also are the primary I485 and dependent I485 two different applications or is there any dependency in general? Link to comment
directory0818
application or delay both primary and dependent application? -> would delay only spouse application is there any dependency in general? -> Both are 2 separate applications and 2 separate fees Link to comment
pontevecchio
If employment based, the AOS of the derivative can only be done once the AOS for the primary is approved and thus there is a dependency of sorts. Link to comment
Advicereq123
Thank you both for helping me understand. Since spouse is on an extended trip outside the country, for how long / how far in the future can the re-scheduling appointment be done? Also here in case of primary applicant, does an earlier walk-in (than scheduled date) for biometrics help in faster processing of the application ? Link to comment
Shurap1
As far as I know they do not give you choice of the dates but they would simply reschedule it by couple of weeks. Walk-ins do not give faster processing of the application. Link to comment
Advicereq123
Wanted to check how many times the appointment can be re-scheduled since spouse will be unable to attend appointment (as spouse is currently out of the country) ? Is it ok to re-schedule more than once, leave application abandoned or change to consular processing - wanted to check what option would be better in this case? Link to comment
pontevecchio
You are talking in riddles. Should you want to specify the EXACT circumstances, I am sure you will get relevant replies. Link to comment

I know people who have done it more than once...why don't you try multiple times and let us know when USCIS runs out of patience on this case? Link to comment
Advicereq123
Situation is spouse's parent is unwell for a serious health condition, so spouse had to travel back out of country for an extended period of time, and at the moment unsure of return timeframe. So checking what option to go with on the biometric appln in this situation. Link to comment
