H4 to F1 COS and H4 extension approved at same time

I had filed for my H4 to F1 COS in April 2017 and my H4 was expiring in September 2017. Since the I didnt get any decision on my COS application bby end of August, my college and H attorney suggested to also file for an H4 extension and so I did the same before my H4 visa expiry in September 2017.

now, today (11/13/2017), I received both H4 extension and h4 to f1 cos approval simultaneously with same notice date.

the h4 approval has start date of 30 April 2017 till 30 april 2018.

H4 to F1 approval has start date of 23 dec 2017 till "duration of stay".

I am in a pickle what my status will be in december ? H4 or F1.

any help will be appreciated

H4 to F1 cos application usually takes 6 months. For you it took longer around 7 months. 

I suggest leave the country asap and go for F1 stamping and re-enter legally to make sure you are not out of status. Hence you would be on F1 starting Dec 2017.
