Title Change while I-485 Pending more than 180 days

Hi Friends,

 

Need your sincere advice on my case. I am sure one of you might have experienced my situation.

 

I am at present working as a Principal Engineer and I was given a offer to assume the Sr. Manager role for the same team. My question is will this move affect my GC processing?

 

I am at present on a H1B visa; with an approved EAD card and I submitted for my EAD renewal couple months back. I never used my EAD yet I am still on H1B.

 

My priority date is Dec 13^th 2008, EB2 category and my I-485 is pending approval for more than 180 days.

 

The advice that I got from my legal team is to do a H1B amendment because of the title change and at the same time submit the Adjust of Status (AOS) portability application with USCIS to reflect my new role Sr. Manager.

 

Btw, the role (Principal Engineer) and the new role (Sr. Manager) are under same Job classification.

 

Please suggest if there is any risk for me to move forward and assume the new role?
