Move from L1 to ESTA

Hello,

My apologies if the below question was asked recently, but I could not find a straight answer.

I am currently working in the US with an L1-B visa. I am considering :

  • leaving my company and giving up my VISA
  • travel outside of the US for a couple of weeks
  • come back to the US with an ESTA to gather my belongings and definitely move out.

Is there any risk I would not be allowed back to the US if I am applying for an ESTA just a few weeks after resigning?

Thanks!

Julien

Entering on a non-immigrant visa waiver (using ESTA) is never guaranteed.

There always is some risk. It would be best if you can show ties to your home country, like a job there. Assuming that you are from Europe, based on your handle, I think the risk would be pretty low.
