Role change while on L1B within same company, Is it advisable ?

Hi,

My L1B is valid till Oct'2018 and I have 2 more years left to get it extended beyond 2018

My question is it Advisable to change role while on L1B visa. Will it increase chances of L1B extension denial 

The future role would be very different from my current role.

My employer would be filing my PERM application early next year and I want to move it new role before that but not risking L1B extension
