silkroute Posted October 14, 2017 Report Posted October 14, 2017 Hello Forumites, Greetings! My H1B extension has been approved but my US visa has expired. I could not get it renewed and won't be able to renew it until next summer. I have an opportunity to visit UK for a month but I will need a new UK visa for that. My question is, given that my current US visa has expired but I have a valid work permit, if I were to apply for a new UK visa what are the chances that the UK embassy will reject my application? I understand that I will have to go to India for a renewal if I take up the UK trip. The second option would have been to first go to India and then to UK. But by then the deadline for the UK opportunity would have passed. What are my options? I don't want to miss out on the UK trip. Thanks, SR
JoeF Posted October 14, 2017 Report Posted October 14, 2017 This is a site discussing US visa issues. UK visas are a UK issue. The laws in the UK have no connection at all to US laws. You should check with UK forums or lawyers handling UK visas.
pontevecchio Posted October 14, 2017 Report Posted October 14, 2017 Consider renewing the visa stamp in Canada first.
nmurthy Posted October 18, 2017 Report Posted October 18, 2017 You can also try H1B stamping in UK. Talk to your attorney about this and also read the WEBSITE for US embassy in London to see if they have any restrictions. I just googled "h1b stamping in uk" and saw a post in a different forum about a successful H1 stamping in London (it is from 2013). The reason what that person went to london for H1 stamping is the same as your reason.
silkroute Posted October 18, 2017 Author Report Posted October 18, 2017 Happy Diwali everyone! @pontevecchio For renewing in Canada I'd need to apply for a Canadian visa first. So that essentially puts me back into the same situation. Thanks for your reply nevertheless. @nmurthy Ok, shall do that. Thanks!
