visa_hopping Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 I have an expired us visa but a valid i94 and i797 approval form and wanted to use AVR to travel for a week to Toronto, Canada. I know that I meet all the travel requirements. I'm just worried about two things: 1. In the forum, people keep saying "don't give up your existing i94 when you travel, because you need it on the return journey." this is not an issue if my i94 is online right? I just carry a print out of it with me? 2. Has anyone heard of the immigration officer at the American Airport preventing you from entry? Is this something I need to worry about at all? Thank you.
gopalakrishnach Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 1) Just in case carry a copy of online print out. 2) Since your visa is expired and you have I797 Approval form you need to get visa stamped and enter back into USA.

pontevecchio Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 The Op DOES NOT need a visa stamp to come back. He needs to carry the original I94 he has with him and return based on that. Everybody has heard a million stories, mostly conjecture and rumor. Take the trouble to look up AVR in the CBP site and read up and maybe carry a printout.
visa_hopping Posted October 12, 2017 Author Report Posted October 12, 2017 @pontevecchio: when you say original I94, you mean the print out of my latest I94 right, which is on the cbp website ?
