Can I travel to INDIA when my responded RFE for amendment is in progress

Hi

My visa is expired last Dec but have got the H1 extension approved, but my amendment is still pending approval after sending RFE response. 

1. Can I travel to India and have the stamping done based on my approved H1B extension? or

2. Do i need to have my amendment approved before i go for stamping? 

3. Do i need wait for amendment approval in US or else i can wait in INDIA

Let me know at the earliest.
