rohit__mehta Posted September 23, 2017 Report Posted September 23, 2017 Hello. Could anyone please advice on this situation. I am on F1-OPT. i just got my H1 approved. I am also getting married this year. I'll be filling my DS-160 as "single". When i fly to India, the first thing i'll be doing is getting married. Hence, from then onwards legally, my status changes to "married". I'm planning to appear for my interview after i get married. So i fill the form as single and appear as a married person. Does it matter ? Now, how do i apply for H4 visa for my to-be wife ? Would it be immediately after i get married or should i wait till my stamping is done and then i fill the form for her ?
shivzy1 Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 Hi Rohit, I have applied for the H1b this year as well,I haven't received an approval yet, but I thought my answer could be of help to you,the way I understand it, you have to fill your DS 160 as married and apply for the interview.But this person filled both forms as single. Please do your research before filling the forms since I have not gone through the process personally.I am inn a similar situation since I am planning to get married in November 2017 too,I will be hoping to follow in your footsteps if you share what you decide to do as well, thanks.
