I94 Validity with 1797 and expired passport

Hi

I traveled to us in 2016 with visa ending om aug 2017. got I94 till aug 2017, in march 2017 i moved employer got H1B Extension till 2020 feb.  Expiry date in I797 is Feb 2020, but my passport is expiring in jan 2018. i applied for passport renewal. do i need to do any thing for i94 or my current I94 is valid after Jan2018. Please advise.

Did yo get I94 on I797 till Feb 2020?  Once you get new passport, you can go to Mexico border and get updated I94 with your new passport. 

Again consult your employer immigration attorney/ call CBP officer from where you entered US port of entry. They will guide you.

You do not have to do anything except make sure you renew your passport now. Why wait till the last minute? Your current I94 till 2020 is valid. Pray why did you not ask your HR?

Currently I do not have valid visa. If I leave country I need to go for stamping.
