sameer1310 Posted September 18, 2017 Report Posted September 18, 2017 Hello Team, I went for visa stamping in Montreal, and got it done successfully. Below is the experience, I would like to share to help others. 1) We were a family of 3. Kids were allowed in the consulate. Lot of families had come with kids, so no issues there. 2) Appointment was at 12:45 pm, they only allowed all of us at 12:40 pm. 3) There was a counter for verifying documents and finger printing. This was the first step of the interview. The officer said, we did not have good photos, hence requested us to get new pics from their office. 4) The machine they had for taking pics, only accepted 5/10 dollar bills. So make sure either have a good pic or change. 5) Once we got the new pics, they verified everything and put us in queue for the second step, which was the actual interview. 6) Interview was basic, where do you work, what do you do, what does your company do, etc. Same questions for my wife as well. Visa was approved. Whole process took 2 hrs, only because of bad photos, otherwise would have been 1 to 1.5 hrs only. Appointment was on 12th. Tracked the status of the visa on 12th, it was admin processing. 13th Visa issued. 14th, passport ready for pick up.
Pradeep7313 Posted September 18, 2017 Report Posted September 18, 2017 thanks for posting , can you tell me how did you pay the ViSA Fee ? as now they are only accepting Cash
rajuvist Posted September 18, 2017 Report Posted September 18, 2017 Good to hear and congrats !! Can you share some Urls. where we can book the appointment etc. What are the current interview waiting times etc..
sameer1310 Posted September 19, 2017 Author Report Posted September 19, 2017 @Pradeep7313, I paid using a credit card. @rajuvist you can book the appointment here: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv Interview wait and visa processing times: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/general/wait-times.html/ Please note, my visa was processed in one day. Maybe because, I had the same employer for my previous 2 visa stampings, just a guess. Not sure. Officially the visa processing takes 3-5 business days in Montreal. The visa officer mentioned the same.
Purvesh Posted September 27, 2017 Report Posted September 27, 2017 Hey Sameer, Congratulations. I have a visa interview date of 11 Oct in Montreal and would like any suggestions you can give to smoothen out my journey. Also, if you can, please answer the following questions: You mentioned cash in your post. Do they accept USD? or do I have to convert them to CAD dollars? Which airport did you land? How did you arrange your transportation from the airport to your hotel? Any good fairly priced hotels near the consulate? Thanks.
