my wife is in H4 EAD expiring on 10/24/2020 . we came to know that my wife’s H1B was approved  effective from 10/1/2017.

We want to stay in H4EAD. one option we heard is to go to mexico and entry in H4 on oct 1 .. 

can someone also done the same , if yes do we need to go to consulate to get visa stamped or we can ask CBP officer to give the new i94 based on i797
