Urmi Posted August 25, 2017 Report Posted August 25, 2017 we are in bit of a situation here ....my sis n her family had to leave for India as her MIL was on life support .. they had just got their citizenship ... so applied for US passport but had to leave before it arrived... they could enter India with the Indian passport but now while coming back the airlines would not allow them to board ... meanwhile while they were in India.. we mailed their US passport as soon as they arrived. Despite showing the US passport the airlines (Qatar) is asking for OCI to exit India...have you or anyone you know has been in a similar situation? Any suggestions.., thanks in advance
JoeF Posted August 25, 2017 Report Posted August 25, 2017 They broke Indian laws since they were no longer Indians when they flew there. Their Indian passports became invalid the moment they became US citizens. They will have to come clean to the Indian authorities. And btw, it is possible to get a US passport over night in case of such emergencies.
pontevecchio Posted August 25, 2017 Report Posted August 25, 2017 Was it the CIS personnel in charge of giving them their exit stamp who did not allow them further access to the Airport. ? Have them contact the US Embassy/Consulate and ask for guidance.
