myquery2012 Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 Just wanted to share my experience with CBP coming back from my 3 night cruise to Mexico. I have a valid I-797. H1B visa stamp expired an year ago. I reached out to CBP to confirm whether the Automatic Revalidation rule is applicable. I received a reply suggesting that while it is upto the officers discretion, the rule should apply in my case and they sent me a link of teh same reply in their FAQ section. Upon my return at the port, CBP officer checked my passport and document and made a remark that my visa had expired. I replied that my work authorization is still valid and I received an email from CBP that Automatic Revalidation should apply and I could show the email if he would like. The officer said he didn't need it and said I can go ahead. `
