H4EAD to H1 question

I am on H4 EAD as of now. I applied for H1b this year and it got picked in the lottery. My question is there a way I can continue to stay on H4 EAD even after OCt 1 when her H1b gets active if approved.

I came to know that if I leave the country before Oct 1 and come back after Oct 1 on H4 status, I can maintain H4 instead of H1. Is that true?

If my case gets RFE and if RFE is resolved and approved lets say sometime in November, in that case is there a way for me to still be on H4 EAD instead of H1b.
