Is it okay to go to ANY USA consulate in India for H1B visa stamping?

We are travelling to India and need to get my H1B (and my wife's H4) visa stamped. Our current stamped visa has expired 2 years ago and we have I-797 approval for the extension. I will be in Mumbai during the most of my travel and wondering if it' okay for me to take stamping appointment in Mumbai consulate? I belong to a different state in India and the default consulate for us is the one in Chennai.

You can apply at any consulate
