H4 to H1 COS : I797

Hello Experts,

I came to US on H4. My H1 petition got approved after coming to US(USCIS generated I797B for the same).

I have applied for change of status and it got approved(USCIS generated I797A for COS). My question is whether USCIS will take back the original I797B and will provide I797A or will it return both I797A and I797B?

My employer provided only I797A to me. Do I need to request for I797B also?

Presumably you got an I94 with the COS approval. Then why are you wanting to get anything else? A,B and C refer to your copy, your employer and his lawyer.

Thanks for your reply. If I apply for H1 transfer or if I go back to India for attending visa interview process, do I need to have both I797A & I797B or I797A alone is sufficient?
