H1 Transfer to new employer and visiting India

Hello Everyone, 

I am currently working for a company in the H1B category.  I have a job offer from another company, who are going to file my h1 transfer. At this time, I need to fly to India owing to personal reasons. I have agreed to join immediately after I arrive. I have the following questions

1) If I tell my current employer and fly to India, which is what I would do, will I be considered out of status when I fly back? Meaning, can I enter on the old employer's petition if he agrees not to revoke my h1? I will only have the other employers h1 receipt and not the approval notice. 

2) Any ideas on how to proceed? I am confused on the exact road map I should follow under the current situation.
