First of all, thanks for this forum and whoever posted their VISA experiences.

Canada immigration -> I was asked duration of stay and reason. They asked about my employer.

This is my 2nd stamping here in Calgary {2013/2017}

Working for an end client through the vendor. Previous H1B stamping was also with the same employer.

-> Routine security check {no phones and key chains/ metals }, even though my interview time was at 10:50 AM they allowed me to enter at 10 AM.

-> Counter1 (Indian) - asked for passport I-797 and status in Canada

-> Counter4- finger prints then was told to stand in line for interview

-> Observations while I was standing in the line for interview- Two Male officers are doing interviews today {one of them is wearing suite and he is quick and cool ; and the other guy is thin/bald and asking more questions and taking 10+ minutes for each candidate}.

1. How long you have been in US and Status?

2. Highest qualification? University and Specialization?

3. Did your employer filed for green card ? Do you have the proof ? if you have it? can I see it?

4. What you do? Explained my role and responsibilities...

So only documents asked are I-797 and an I-140 approval copy. I didn't see any rejections which is good :)

Got my passport Monday 02/06, POE on 02/07 - Where are you travelling to? 4 right fingers on the scanner, took photo.... Have a nice day!

Good luck!

Here is my case.

On F1 in 2006 from Chennai consulate approved.

H1B May 2012 Chennai US consulate approved.

H1B drop box hyderabad Sep 2013 approved.

I was drop box eligible in Jan 24th 2017, scheduled appointment in hyderabad to drop the documents.

Then there was confusion of waiver program being suspended. I tried to change it to interview in Hyderabad. which the website did not let me do it.

So with all confusion going on I looked up alternatively in Canada for appointments. Found one on Feb9th for Calgary.

9 AM, an indian family with kids ahead of me in line.

and followed by Two chinese people.

Guy in suit was standing and taking interviews. And there was another guy at another counter who was seated. when my

turn came up, suit guy had asked me to step forward.

ME:Good morning sir

VO:  Good Morning

VO: Who's your employer

ME: blah blah

VO: What does your employer do?

ME: blah blah

VO: how long you been in US

ME: X yrs

VO:have your employer filed an immigrant application

Me: Yes

VO: Do you have the 140 copy

Me:Passed it over

VO: Handed me the pamplet and instructions how to pick up the passport.

Me: Thnq Sir

Feb 14th got my passport.

POE: Calgary

CBP: Where you headed

Me: ***

CBP: What you do there

Me: ***

CBP: What is popular down there

Me: Running trails and east indian food

CBP: I love vindaloo

CBP: I94 is good until 10 days after ur H1b expiry

Me: Thnq Sir

All went fine with me. Stay honest and confident.
