H1-H4 and Green Card process

Hi,

I'm on H1B and have approved I-140 with priority date in 2011 (EB2-India). My wife is also on H1B with approved I-140 with priority date in 2016. I'm planning to apply for H4 EAD for job flexibility but planning to stay with my current employer for now.

My question is, can I apply for I-485 if my priority date gets current while I'm on H4, or should I convert back to H1B to do so. As mentioned above my priority date is earlier than my wife's.

Any suggestions/ideas much appreciated.

You can apply for AOS from H4 or indeed any legal status you are in at that time.
