Hello Everyone,

I am currently in a unique situation which no one in my contact has encountered earlier, so I decided to post it on this forum. This may also assist people to evaluate the timing of their next stamping visit.

I was scheduled for my second H1b visa interview at Vancouver on 12/12/16. The officer asked me various questions about my employment, client etc & all the possible documents required for the interview. Thankfully I was carrying all that was asked and more. Long story short he made a very vague statement that my employer has been in some trouble in the past and they need more time to look into my case. He handed me over a White 221g paper which had no specific details.

After returning back to the Hotel I realized I should have asked for my passport back, just in case I get tired of waiting and want to go to India. I immediately wrote an email to NIV to return my passport. My passport currently has a stamped H1B visa until 12/14/16. I also asked them if my 221G will affect my current stamped visa & will it impact if I enter the States. They said it’s up to the discretion of the officer at the port of entry and they will not be able to comment on it. They also told me that they will hold on to my original I797 for administrative processing.

I collected my passport from the post office the next day 12/13 and I didn’t see any marking on my current visa. I drove from Vancouver to Seattle & went through port of entry at Peace Arch.

It’s been a month and I still haven’t seen any progress in my case, my questions is has anyone encountered this situation if yes, is there a timeframe that I have to be there by, when they are ready to stamp my visa like a few days or a week, as I would have to travel back to Vancouver and post my passport to the consulate general.
