yzag Posted January 9, 2017 Report Posted January 9, 2017 Hi, last week I attended h1b visa interview at hyderabad, though my visa got issued, it was issued on my old petition. I have 2 petitions. 1. expiring on Mar 22 2017 2. expiring on Mar 22 2020, start date is Mar 23 2017. both the petitions are with same company. when visa interviewer asked my petition, I gave her the new petition. But not sure why they issued my visa on my old petition end date. I called usatraveldocs and asked whether it was done by mistake or purposefully. Is anyone faced this kind of issue ?
veshwar Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 this is really bad.. did you get any response from ustraveldocs?. Hopefully you dont have to attend and pay for visa again. please update.
shekar11# Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 What is the expiry date on the visa stamp. Did you mention new petition information in DS-160 application or old petition information. Check that once. If you filled old petition info it is your mistake.
Ven321 Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 They changed rule that, Passport should not contain two valid US visas at the same time, even though dates are different. That's why they go with the nearest one. because you went to stamping before the New H1 starts that is March 23

It is up to the visa officer if he wants to cancel the previous one or not.
Tjgarla Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 It's a mixup and nothing else. 1) did you mention the new i797 receipt number on the DS160 Form? 2)During the ASC interview did you show the new i797 or Both? You can go back to the consulate and get it resolved, normally the final information is loaded by the people working in the consulate and not the officers. When ever I went to collect the passports in MEXICO (You can collect it the same day) they clearly mention to check all the information in front of them and report the mistake immediately for them to rectify the problem. FYI: I have my old petition till Feb 28th 2017 and new petition from March 1st 2017 to feb 28th 2020. I didnt even show them my old petition since they dont need it.
vijayonb Posted January 30, 2017 Report Posted January 30, 2017 Hi yzag, can you please let me know how you resolved this issue. I am also facing the same. really appreciate your quick response. Thanks in advance.
