GC Application Strategy

I came to US for my Masters in 2007 and continued here for my PhD. I graduated in 2015 and now I got approved for my STEM OPT. I am working in an early stage start-up firm as Director of Operations and Research and Development. Since its a start-up I am the only employee in the R&D wing. When asked about my possibility to apply for GC through EB1 category, my attorney suggests that its hard to apply via EB1 since my firm dont have enough employee to show a strong R&D wing. I am asking for a second opinion on that issue. Also, I would like to know if I am eligible to apply self petition. I have 5 publications and three more to come from my dissertation. I have reviewed almost 10 publications. Please give me suggestion.
