I would like to thank this forum for all the information that is being provided and shared. I got everything I needed from this forum. I will share my experience from applying Canada visiting visa and first time H1B visa stamping Ottawa. This was my first H1B visa interview. I was on F1, came in the US since 2008 and got my bachelors and masters. I never went back to my home country since them. Was on OPT and just got my H1B this year.

I got most of the information on how to apply for Canada visiting visa this year from this forum. I will share my experience. I tried to do the online application but failed to submit some of the pdf forms that I filled out. I ended up doing paper application. In the application, the reason for my visit to Canada was solely for H1B visa stamping, I provided approximate dates in December that I thought I could be in Canada for the interview. I also wrote a letter addressing to Canada visa officer about the reason for my trip, included my employer information and my job title. In the paper package included approved I-797, transcripts and about six months bank statements. I would recommend using this site provided by Canada visa application center: https://www.csc-cvac.com/

I applied for Canada visa end of September and got my passport back by October 20th.

The following were the interview questions from US Visa interview, Ottawa. Got accommodation for a week via airbnb at very reasonable price and just walking distance to the embassy. Interview on 19th December.

Consulate: Good morning, please provide your DS-160 confirmation page, passport and approved I-797.

Me: Good morning, I provided everything.

Consulate: You came in the US since 2008, right?

Me: Yes, I came in 2008 to pursue my undergrad and after I graduated worked for two years and a half under opt, and then opt extension. I then went back to school to pursue my masters after that.

Consulate: When did you finish your masters? And what was your master’s degree in?

Me: December 2015, Masters in xxx

Consulate: Can I see your recent I-20?

Me: I have all my I-20s and have the recent one which was used to apply for OPT; I then provided the most recent I-20. Consulate typing some of the responses I give.

Consulate: What are your roles at your company? I explained my roles.

Consulate: please put your left hand for finger printing. Then after that he told me based on my home country, I had to pay 500 dollars for H1B processing. He kept my passport. I was sent to window 1 to pay this amount and provided the receipt to the same consulate. Then he said I would get my passport in 2 to 4 days.

I hope this helps. Best wishes to everyone. So far my tracking information has been provided and it looks like I can pick up my passport today.
