off_bias Posted December 19, 2016 Report Posted December 19, 2016 Hi forum users, According to H1B final rule going into effect Jan 17, 2017, you get 60 days grace period from day of termination to leave the US. Can you travel outside the US and return during this period (if you used to hold a multi entry H-1B)? Thanks! Off_bias
shekar11# Posted December 19, 2016 Report Posted December 19, 2016 No. The 60 day period is only for finding a new employer. If you travel you might be questioned at POE asking for employment details and would lead to unnecessary hassles if you don't have a job.
off_bias Posted January 21, 2017 Author Report Posted January 21, 2017 I think in the grace period you are technically not out of a job or status yet. Also 60 days is too long to not have any travel possibilities including job interviews, for example, in Canada. Does anyone know the specific rule or law regarding this? Or anyone have any experience crossing POE in this new 60 day grace period? Thanks
