Laconic Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 I recently went to the Texas DMV renew my driver's license, and they were unable to verify my lawful presence through the SAVE portal. The lower part of my I-979A approval notice was still attached, and I presume the DMV attempted to retrieve my information based on the I-94 number in the notice. The I-94 record number in DHS’s website is different. Both I-94’s otherwise reflect accurate information. I have traveled out of the country after obtaining the I-979 approval notice and after obtaining an H-1B visa. Should the I-94 record numbers be the same? If anyone has faced this issue, how was it resolved? Thanks
rksingh Posted December 20, 2016 Report Posted December 20, 2016 The I-94 from the I-797 correctly changed to the new number on the DHS website after you travelled. I am not sure of Texas DMV rules but I think that you should furnish your passport with the last entry stamp along with a printout of the latest I94 number from the DHS website.
