My aunt, us citizen, filled for a petition for her sister (my mom) in 2006. My family and I live in Italy. Everthing was fine and we were waiting for the priority date to be current. Unfortunately my mom passed this year. We comunicated the event to NVC. Is there any chance that the petition can still be "saved"?

It may be possible to save the "petition". My condolences on your loss.
