Ananthu Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 Dear All, I was working for Company A till November 4th. I got my H1B Transferred and now working for company B. I'm planning for India Trip in Feb 2017 . Below is my question. The Visa Issued for my Company A is Valid till March 19th 2017. Do I need to go for stamping in India again when i go to India. I'm planning my trip from Feb 20th through March 12th. Can anyone Please clarify if stamping is required or i will be able to re-enter with the visa issued by Company A and the new I-797 from company B. Thanks in advance!! Cheers Ananthu

Cheers Ananthu Ur visa stamping is going to expire in march 2017 and u are going to return back in feb 2017. U hardly have 1 month . I assume u will need a) 6 months visa stamping validity b) Also 6 months valid passport Lets wait for experts
boilerdam Posted December 5, 2016 Report Posted December 5, 2016 No, you don't need to go for stamping as long as the visa stamp in your passport is valid (till 3/19/17). I was in a similar situation when traveling in 2013...I had transferred companies in 2012 and my visa stamp from the first company was valid till 2014 and I did not have to go to the consulate. When I entered back into the US in 2013, the new I-94 was given till the date of validity of the I-797 of the second company, 'coz that's what dictates our stay. So, in your case, when you return on 3/12/17, your I-94 would go up till the I-797 of Company-B.
shekar11# Posted December 5, 2016 Report Posted December 5, 2016 You don't need a new visa stamp if you already have one. Duration does not matter. The expiration date on the company B I-797 drives the I-94 date. Make sure your passport is valid for the duration of the I-797 or else you might get I-94 till your passport expiration date.
Ananthu Posted December 6, 2016 Author Report Posted December 6, 2016 All, thanks for taking time to reply to my query . So I assume I dont need to go for stamping as long as i return on March 12th 2017, even though my VISA is expiring on March 19th 2017. My I-797 is valid till October 17 2017 and my passport is valid for next 10 years :) So i assume i;m good. Cheers, Ananthu
