H1b Amend Questions

My employer has different work locations in different cities in USA. I am going to relocate to different location so as per USCIS  it looks like we will have to file H1B Amend.

Questions:-
1.  How long does the H1B Amend process take?
2. Can I start working on a new project even if H1B Amend is in pending status?
3. Are there any travel conerns if I travel to India when H1B amend is in pending status? My H1B status is valid till 2018

1. It takes approx. 6 months to a year.

2. Yes, you can begin to work.

3. You can travel. Better to apply for amendment in premium to avoid unnecessary tensions as the wait time is really long. It will cost more but you will have to worry lot less.
