David Anderson Posted November 29, 2016 Report Posted November 29, 2016 Hi, My friend will be finishing up his PhD in Biology in next fall 2017. He has also taken 2 MBA courses and plans to take a few more and get an MBA eventually. But MBA has a drawback which STEM majors do not. STEM majors are eligible for a STEM extension but non-STEM majors get only one year. So, what would be a good way to get and make use of both OPT's(one from PhD and one from the MBA program), if possible? If he needs to use CPT, he can. He has not used it so far. Please let me know if anybody knows the answer to this. Thanks.
JoeF Posted November 29, 2016 Report Posted November 29, 2016 Forget CPT. That's huge red flag nowadays. Also, STEM extensions may be possible in his case, due to having a STEM degree before the non-STEM degree. See https://www.uscis.gov/working-united-states/students-and-exchange-visitors/students-and-employment/stem-opt BTW, that took just a few seconds of a Google search. And quite frankly, your friend could post himself. This site is free...
