Your application requires additional administrative processing before a final decision can be made.

Questions asked :

petitioner's name:

client Name:

Job responsibilities:

VO was typing thorough out this and asked about my masters:

answered completed masters from XXXX

VO: change of status while you were in US?

answered yes:

VO took my passport went back and came back after sometime and gave 221g white slip and said your application is under administrative processing will take a while.

how long it might take for the decision?

anyone been through this kind of situation before ?

what are the chances of approval/Rejection

Hi,

I faced a similar situation on Nov 17th. I wasn't asked too many questions as I have had prior H1 Visa's and work directly at client end for a MNC. However I did face 221g a few years back and unfortunately it took them 13 months to issue visa. Luckily I was working from our Hyd office. I thought they would have updated all that information in their database for future but it happened again this time. The officer did tell me that only concern was that I have a common name and it will probably take 2-3 weeks. So lets see.....waiting game starts!!

send me your contact info if you want to stay in touch with updates with our cases and moral support :-)

Hi I also had a similar experience yesterday (11/23/16) ( Hyderabad)The VO officer asked me questions regarding who my petitioner was and my gross salary. She has asked me for LCA, highest degree of education.

She has issued me a 221g form where the option Your application required additional administrative processing before a final decision can be made was checked.

I am not sure what needs to be done from my end and why was the form issued. I did not know if it was something that can be asked. The last i remember was filling some sort of questionnaire. I haven't received any questionnaire during my interview.

Please advise.

Sorry about that. This can take a while to process. I received a blue 221g myself at Chennai Consulate on 11/17/2016 and its been in ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING ever since. In the mean time, if you would like to stay in touch to discuss our cases and findings, please reach out to me at kaushik.kuberanathan@gmail.com

Hi folks,

As I have been through this before, I had done a lot of research about 221g's and used to interact with more than a dozen people in the same boat with different scenarios. Having said that, let me tell you that each case is different. For some they feel they have the info they need and hence do not ask for anything else after the fact. For some they don't have everything they need and hence reach out. And trust me there are cases where they already have all the info in DS160, doc provided etc etc but STILL they ask the info again. This is done either to compare the responses are same (cuz apparently some people are not honest) or maybe just in error.

Based on what I read above most of the cases probably were given 221g so they can verify employment. By that I mean, the company you workfor, how legit it is, how many employees, their and your taxes etc etc and that takes some time. mostly just a couple of weeks. So hang in there and you will get a response. Keep checking the status and if the "case updated" date is changing that means your case is in progress.

For some cases (like mine) 221g is given for common name cases. This means my name or something similar is on their "list" for extra verification. This is done in the US and they manually go over each "hit" and mark it as complete. This takes time which is different for each case. I had thought that cuz I got this done the last time, my info would have been updated in their systems. Maybe it was and they just need to verify any new hits against my "common" name etc. I was told it will take approx. 2-3 weeks for my case, hence I haven't actually started submitting any queries or questions etc yet. And folks on vacation too for thanksgiving so I assume things do slow down this time of the year. lets see......
