how long can H1 candidate stay out of USA

hi, I had fractured my foot and came to india around 3 months back in august.

How long can I stay out of USA due to medical reasons.

Do I need any documentation at port of entry

You can stay as long as you want. But you would have to have documentation that your job still exists when you come back.

You can be in your home country as long as you want. You need to carry supporting docs for your visit if it is too long.
