StudentLife Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 Hello, I entered USA with a F1 stamp for a community college and have transferred to a 4 year university after getting my associates degree from the community college. My passport has a visa stamp from the community college and is valid for 3 more years. My questions are: 1 - My program needs me to study abroad for a semester, can I re enter USA with my old school visa stamp or I need new stamp from this university? 2 - If I need new visa stamp, can I go to Canada for the same? 3 - Also I am in the process of changing my name on my Indian passport, what should be my first step? change of name in the Passport or getting a visa stamp first? Thank you StudentLife.
pontevecchio Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 ""As long as you have followed the proper transfer procedures, you will be able to use your current, unexpired visa to re-enter the U.S. even though it has your previous school name printed on it"" I would suggest talking to your student advisor to make absolutely sure.
